Avatar

So, I visited three different websites where you can create an avatar, and these are my thoughts. An avatar is the graphical representation of the user or the user's alter ego or character. It may take either a three-dimensional form, as in games or virtual worlds, or a two-dimensional form as an icon in Internet forums and other online communities. You may be wondering how or why an avatar would be used ..... well, in personal life an avatar may be used to communicate with different people around the world, or even just for fun. In educational career an avatar may be created to help with a speech that you have to give, for example if you are representing a historical person you may add a voice to your avatar. In buisness an avatar could be created to communicate with your employees, if you add a voice to your avatar explaining to them about what you would like done for the day and send it to them all via E-mail then you wouldnt have to find a different way to communicate. Prior to this OnLineExperience class that I am taking I have never used an avatar before. The three sites that I visited were ClayYourself, GoAnimate, and Voki. Out of these three sites I enjoyed using Voki the most. I think that Voki was easier to use. The site has tabs everywhere that are easy to follow. I also think that out of the three sites this one is the most realistic as to what people really could look like. It had the usual color hair choices and the ususal color eye choices, where as on the other sites ClayYourlsef as you may have guessed, has you creating an avatar out of clay. I also liked Voki more because you were able to create an account and save your voki. On clay yourlsef you were unable to create an account so your avatar was put into a gallelry with everyone elses.

Feed Readers

Today I compared two different feed readers. Google reader and Bloglines were the two that I looked at. Google reader and Bloglines are organized is the same way, all gadgets that you add to your page are boxed in and titled. They are also different though, Google gives you many options on how to maximize and minimize your gadgets along with a bunch of other things, bloglines does not give you this feature. In Google with your gadgets you are able to scroll up and down and access the information in each one quicker. In Bloglines you are unable to do this you have to click an hour to go down and an arrow to go up. In conclusion I like Google Reader more because it is easier to navigate through and it seems to have more features.
